Description

What it is: An aerodynamically tuned stem with adjustable length and angle to optimize your position. Tasked with linking the handlebar and fork, the stem was developed with the Team DimensionData team to fine-tune the response and roll control needed in a crucial area of the bike. Who's it for: Competition cyclists, triathletes and competitive riders who want to optimize their posture and improve overall aerodynamics while maintaining the stiffness and comfort they need to be faster. Why we designed it: The rider is responsible for 80-90% of the total aerodynamic drag, so improving your position can be one of the biggest gains. In addition, the shape of the stem and the possibility of eliminating the headset spacers create a cleaner airflow at the front of the bike, achieving an inestimable reduction in aerodynamic drag. Created in conjunction with the Team Dimension Data team, the stem offers the reliable and responsive ride feel that the world's best riders desire. Full details: Our approach to aerodynamics has always been to find the best solution for the complete bicycle and rider system, as we realize that aerodynamic performance is much more than obtaining a low value for aerodynamic resistance in the wind tunnel. This approach can be seen in our wheels, where sought-after stability meets reduced drag to keep you as fast as possible in real road conditions, where it really matters. It can also be seen on our innovative SES Aero road handlebar, which increases speed thanks to its shape and rider positioning. The SES Aero road stem is the natural complement to this handlebar, applying the same design considerations in parallel. We first developed a shape with less frontal surface area, cleaner airflow and less drag. We then devised some elegantly simple methods of adjusting the angle and fine-tuning the length, resulting in a lightweight stem that fits any of our handlebars and makes you faster. ADJUSTABILITY Working with the Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka team, we quickly learned that even professional cyclists need a whole host of different positions for their stems. With their help, and our own design expertise, putting functionality and performance first, we obtained a power with two positions for the length and another two for the angle through spacers in the head tube. With the first separator an angle of -7 or -17 is achieved, while the second offers an angle of -12 with a variation of +/- 2.5 mm in length. Despite the dual adjustability and aerodynamic profile, we managed to keep a low weight of just 175g (110mm length), including the trim spacer and top cap, in a design compatible with any standard head tube and all our road handlebars.
