Description
SHARQ is the latest creation of the Fulcrum Red Room Lab, with a design that enhancesthe cycling experience on mixed routes, both on asphalt and dirt roads. The result of meticulous research and advanced engineering, it offersunique features of maneuverability, aerodynamics, reactivity and resistance, thanks to the new design of the rim and spokes.Vicenza, June 5, 2024. On our twentieth anniversary, SHARQ marks a milestone forFulcrum: the first product designed specifically for endurance cycling andoff-road.The term “SHARQ” captures the essence of this new high-precision wheel; it's aboutan unprecedented confluence of smoothness, maneuverability, aerodynamics, reactivity andcomfort, qualities that today see the light thanks to the experience acquired with Speed, Wind andRapid Red Carbon. With a design that enhances the cycling experience on mixed routes, both on asphalt and ondirt roads, SHARQ is the result of meticulous research, engineeringadvanced and extensive work during the design and testing phases, in order toguarantee the cyclist the best possible performance. And all this with a chain of100% controlled production, in which all its components are manufactured in Europeand assembled in our own facilities. The new SHARQ has a 25 mm internal channel, making it avery valid option for both road wheels of at least 30 mm width, sinceguarantees aerodynamics and improves rolling resistance, such as for tires oflarger size and with studs, since it offers excellent support to the structure of thecovered in off-road cycling. The rim is equipped with a minihook, which guarantees themaximum safety and is compatible with tubeless and air chamber systems. AFulcrum's usual element is the non-perforated bridge, so the rim is tubelesssince its creation and does not need tape. The most interesting result in terms of performanceaerodynamic was obtained with a wave rim profileperiodic, with a regular pattern in front, whichit becomes irregular near the exterior walls. The main advantage lies in the yaw moment, especially in the range between 10 and 20 degrees. Thanks to CFD analysis, we reduced the seveninitial tire variants to the two thatbetter benefits offered.More extensive wind tunnel testingrevealed that there were no significant differencesin the resistance force between the twooptions. The most significant improvement occurred in theyaw moment, that is, the effortnecessary to keep the wheel straight withcrosswind. The most interesting result in terms of performanceaerodynamic was obtained with a wave rim profileperiodic, with a regular pattern in front, whichit becomes irregular near the exterior walls. The main advantage lies in the yaw moment, especially in the range between 10 and 20 degrees.
