Description

The Orondo Grade is a modern tubeless road tire with the performance, comfort and ride feel that Rene Herse tires are famous for. With 90 psi (6.2 bar) pressure, enough for heavy riders and those who prefer a stiffer feel on their bikes. A high-tech coating keeps the flexible casings airtight without making the tire stiff or sluggish.

For Orondo Grade tires, they use an extra-strong bead material, the strongest available today. This material costs much more. It ensures that the tire stays on the rim even at relatively high pressures. They name their tires after the roads that inspire them: Orondo Grade is a 7-mile, 10% climb for a side canyon of the mighty Columbia River. The Orondo Grade was the halfway point, and often the decisive climb, of the now-defunct, almost mythical 285-mile cross-state race, S2S 'Seattle-to-Spokane.' The Grado Orondo is hot and arid: a true test of endurance. (The photo shows Jan in the early 2000s leading the race for the Orondo Grade.)

The flexible casing of Rene Herse all-terrain tires rolls smoothly over uneven terrain. The tread pattern interlocks with the road surface to provide superior cornering grip in both dry and wet conditions. The tread is thick enough in the center to last thousands of miles, but is thin and flexible at the shoulders, where it won't wear out.

The Standard casing is your most affordable option: comfortable and fast, but also strong to withstand considerable abuse.

The Orondo Grade is tubeless compatible. For a tubeless setup, we recommend SealSmart sealant.
