In this category, you'll find bicycle rims or wheels made from materials such as steel, aluminum, or carbon. Bicycle rims are fundamental components of the wheel system, playing a crucial role in the cyclist's performance, stability, and safety. Although all rims serve the same basic function, there are significant differences between rims designed for road bikes and those for mountain bikes.

The rims, also known as the beads of a bicycle wheel, are very important in the performance of a wheel and, therefore, of the bicycle itself. Any sensation we experience from the rim is determined by its torsional resistance, impact resistance, or strength and weight containment. A quality wheel must be supported by a rim with a certain number of spokes and a solid structure.

These rims can be made of:

Steel: A heavy, inelastic material that cannot be repaired once damaged or impacted. This is the lowest range. It can be found on very old or historic bikes or on supermarket-quality bicycles.

Aluminum: A widely used material today, stronger and, above all, lighter than the previous type, with a certain impact resistance and the option of being able to be replaced after a twist.

Carbon: This is the "premium" material for a wheel, and this is true not only because of its high price, but also because it has the ability to withstand a potential impact much better than any other. It is flexible and can withstand any torsion endured during use, not only preventing deterioration of the tread line but also absorbing impacts that are transferred to the cyclist, thus providing added comfort. And to top off all these virtues, we would have to drastically reduce weight and with it the feeling of difficulty when rolling.
